For my final project I will be using two mediums, photography and painting, to create a final product that consists of a large print and a canvas of equal size. I will begin by photographing a set of eyes. I will then put a negative filter on the photo and paint the eyes on the canvas in negative colour. Once completed I will take a photo of the negative painting and put a negative filter on that photo, thus bringing it back to its regular colours. I will blow that up and have the two side by side for comparison.
The idea behind this comes from my own personal eyes. Being red-green colour blind colours appear differently to me and it can sometimes change the way I view things. When I tell people about my eye troubles they often imagine it to be much worse then it is and a very NEGATIVE thing for me. Through my painting I will show that viewing things in negative colour only changes them, it does not distort what you are looking at completely.

“The Crystallized Book Series addresses the materiality of the book versus the text or content of the book, in addition to commenting on the vulnerability of the printed book. The crystals remove the text and transform the books into aesthetic, non-functional objects. The books, frozen with crystal growth, have become artifacts or geologic specimens imbued with the history of time, use, and nostalgia. The series was prompted by repeatedly finding boxes of discarded books, by the onset of e-books, and by the shuttering of bookstores.”
